DOH: Philippines' record of PUIs for COVID-19 climbs to 441


The Philippines recorded 33 additional suspected cases of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) as of Thursday morning, data from the Department of Health (DOH) show.

This brings to 441 the total, cumulative number of persons under investigation (PUIs) in the country—230 of them are currently admitted in different hospitals and 206 others who yielded negative results for the virus infection were discharged.

Meanwhile, the deaths of two PUIs had been reported by health authorities.

On the other hand, two out of the three who tested positive have been discharged after recovery. The remaining one who was diagnosed with COVID-19 unfortunately died while at San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

Metro Manila has the highest number of admitted suspected cases at 80. Central Visayas follows, with 35 PUIs confined at medical facilities, while Central Luzon has 29.

Health Undersecretary Eric Domingo said most of the PUIs are Filipinos. Among the foreigners under investigation in the country for possible COVID-19 were Chinese, Americans, Japanese, and Europeans. —Dona Magsino/LBG, GMA News
