Duterte designates Eric Distor as NBI officer-in charge

President Rodrigo Duterte has designated National Bureau of Investigation deputy director for intelligence service Eric Distor as officer-in-charge of the agency.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the memorandum on Distor’s appointment on February 21 but the Palace released it only on Wednesday.

Distor's appointment took effect on February 23.

Distor will temporarily run the NBI until the replacement of retired NBI director Dante Gierran is appointed by Duterte or “otherwise directed” by the Office of the President, according to Medialdea.

The NBI is an attached agency of the Department of Justice. — MDM, GMA News
