Kids of COVID-infected couple in Cainta placed under quarantine

The four children of the couple who tested positive for 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been placed under quarantine, according to a report of Mav Gonzales on GMA News’ 24 Oras on Saturday.

Cainta town Mayor Kit Nieto said that health officials visited the home of the couple.

“Their 4 kids, nagpapunta na ako ng health officials where they reside. Negative naman ‘yung apat,” he said.

On Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to six.

The latest case is the wife of a patient previously confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 who had no recent travel history, the DOH said.

According to the DOH, the fifth case is the first local transmission of the virus.

Nieto said the local government distributed protective equipment to the neighbors of the couple.

However, according to the mayor, the neighbors may not have come in contact with the patient.

"Kasi doon sa subdivision, may kanya-kanya namang mga bahay. Hindi naman sila talaga 'yung mga tipo ng tao na lumalabas at nakikipagkuwento," Nieto said.

"Just to appease them and to give them peace of mind, we provided all the necessary materials just to protect them. And anyone in that village who wishes to avail of the stuff that we prepared for them [...] they're all free to see the homeowner's office," he added. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
