CA confirms appointments of Sara Duterte, 21 AFP officers, 12 DFA execs

The Commission on Appointments confirmed Wednesday the nominations and ad interim appointments of Navy Vice Admiral Giovannie Carlo Bacordo, presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Davao City Representative Isidro Ungab, and 19 other senior military officers.

During the hearing of the CA national defense committee, Sara denied that her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, is afraid of her. 

Senator Panfilo Lacson also asked Ungab why was he removed as chairman of the House appropriations committee.

Sara and Ungab have the rank of colonel in the Philippine Army  (reserve).

Others confirmed were:

• Edgar Crisanto Violan to the rank of colonel, Philippine Army  (reserve)
• Marcelino Randy Tibayan to the  rank of major general
• William Ilagan to the  rank of major general
• Arthur Cordura to the rank of major general
• Edwin Princillo to the rank of captain, Philippine Navy
• Narciso Angelo to the rank of captain, Philippine Navy  (reserve)
• Leo Frincillo to the rank of colonel, Philippine Navy-Marines (reserve)
• Glenn Cruz  to the  rank of major general
• Sean Anthony Villa  to the  rank of  rear admiral
• Greg Almerol to the  rank of major general
• Rommel Hinlo to the  rank of brigadier general
• Alfonspin Tumanda Jr. to the  rank of commodore
• Karl Decapia to the rank of commodore
• Ariel Caculitan to the  rank of major general
• Anthony Cacayuran to the rank of brigadier general
• Rommel  Tello to the rank of brigadier general
• Gabriel Viray III to the rank of brigadier general
• Jonas Lumawag to the rank of brigadier general
• Saturnino Diaron to the rank of colonel, Judge Advocate General Service

The CA also confirmed the nominations of two ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and 10 senior officers  promoted to the rank of Foreign Service Officer, Class II.

They were:

• Millicent Cruz-Paredes,  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, with the salary and emoluments of a Chief of Mission, Class II
• Rodolfo Dia Robles,  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Canada with the salary and emoluments of a Chief of Mission, Class I
• Theodore Andrei P. Bauzon
• Candy S. Cypres-Bauzon
• Nicole Therese A. de Castro
