OVP fund drive for healthworkers' protective gear reaches P12M

At least P12 million cash donations have been raised by the fund drive spearheaded by the office of Vice President Leni Robredo for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health workers amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a statement, the OVP said P5.9 million of the P12 million raised was earmarked by their office for the purchase of PPE daily sets which could be used by 1,000 frontliners for the next 15 days.

On the other hand, donations made through the Kaya Natin Movement in response to Robredo’s March 13 call to aid the frontline workers have reached P6.4 million, which will be used to purchase additional PPEs.

The Philippines has so far recorded 140 COVID-19 cases, including 12 deaths, as of Sunday, according to the Department of Health.

Metro Manila has also been placed under community quarantine and checkpoints have been set up on its borders.
