Singapore donates 40,000 more COVID-19 test kits

By MICHAELA DEL CALLAR

Singapore on Saturday handed over an additional 40,000 Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) test kits to the Philippines as Manila grapples with the rising number of infections.

Aside from the kits, Singapore also donated two ventilators from the Temasek Foundation.

“These additional test kits will supplement Singapore’s earlier donation to allow more people to have an early diagnosis, while the ventilators will be crucial for the survival of severe COVID-19 cases,” the Embassy of Singapore said in a statement.

Singapore Ambassador Gerard Ho and Chief of Protocol and Presidential Assistant for Foreign Affairs Robert Borje were at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for the turnover.

“Singapore will continue to work on ways in which we can contribute to the Philippines’ effort to contain and defeat COVID-19,” the embassy said.

Apart from Singapore, the United States and China have also provided assistance to the Philippine government’s fight against the global pandemic, which has killed more than 25,000. — DVM, GMA News
