Duterte won't take another COVID-19 test after Año tested positive

President Rodrigo Duterte would not have another test for COVID-19 after Interior Secretary Eduardo Año tested positive for the disease, Senator Bong Go told reporters on Tuesday night.

Año, one of the leaders of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, announced on Tuesday that he was infected with COVID-19.

"'Di na muna," Go said when asked if Duterte would have another COVID-19 test after the secretary tested positive.

"Ingat lang tayo lahat. Patuloy po kaming mag-iingat at parati ko pinapaalala kay Pangulo mag-ingat. Kelangan po natin ng matatag na leader lalo na sa panahon ng crisis," he added.

On Super Radyo dzBB, the DILG chief said he would be on home quarantine but would continue working.

"On March 27, I got tested. Today, March 31, I received the result from RITM informing me that I am positive for COVID-19," Año said.

"I make this announcement to call the attention of all persons I had close contact with to go on self-quarantine and observe any symptoms, in accordance with DOH guidelines," he added.

Año is the vice chairman of the national action plan meant to reinforce efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. -NB, GMA News
