PACC's Belgica washes hands off Luna's call to probe Robredo

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission's  Greco Belgica washed his hands of the controversy arising from the statement of his colleague Commissioner Manuelito Luna to have Vice President Leni Robredo investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly competing with the government’s relief efforts amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In a statement, PACC Commissioner and spokesperson Belgica said the call issued by Commissioner Luna was only a personal opinion and does not reflect the stand of the anti-corruption body.

“PACC is not asking anyone to investigate VP Leni Robredo. On the other hand, we are thankful to everyone who are helping the frontliners and the needy including the VP,” Belgica said.

“This is not the time for politicking. We are not concerned with any personality.  Our main concern is to make sure all the needy Filipinos get all the help they need the President promised.”

Asked if the PACC would admonish Luna for his statement against Robredo, Belgica said, “Let’s heal as one muna.”

He added the immediate concern was to curb the spread of the deadly virus, save lives and rebuild the country after the health emergency ends.

Robredo’s camp slammed Luna’s call, saying it was “ridiculous” and “inappropriate” amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“In the meantime, rest assured, Vice President Leni will continue to do all she can to help,” Robredo's spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said. —Virgil Lopez/JST, GMA News
