Cash aid for PUV drivers approved – DOTr

The emergency cash subsidy for drivers of Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) was set to be released after concerned agencies signed a joint agreement for its implementation, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Saturday.

“Kasado na ang pagbibigay-ayuda sa mga Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) drivers matapos pirmahan ang Joint Memorandum of Agreement para dito ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), at Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) kahapon, 3 Abril 2020,” the DOTr said in a statement.

“Sakop ng nasabing kasunduan ang mga drayber ng Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ), UV Express (UVE), Public Utility Bus (PUB), Point-to-Point Bus (P2P), Taxi, Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS), School Transport, at Motorcycle (MC) Taxi na maaaring makatanggap ng cash assistance sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 11469 o Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.”

The Transportation Department said the LTFRB would provide a list of PUV drivers which would be compared to the DSWD’s list of low-income household beneficiaries.

The DOTr also noted that it was waiting for the guidelines from the DSWD on how the cash aid would be implemented.

— DVM, GMA News
