Duterte calls on public to pray together on Holy Wednesday amid COVID-19 pandemic

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday encouraged the public to come together on Holy Wednesday and unite in prayer to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat in the country.

In a nationally televised address, Duterte called on the public to come together on Wednesday afternoon and “pay tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Filipino.”

“[U]nite in one prayer to God to fight our common enemy,” he said.

Duterte said God is the only one who can solve the problem regarding COVID-19.

The country has so far recorded a total of 3,660 COVID-19 infections, including 163 fatalities and 73 recoveries. -- BAP, GMA News
