There are 2,673 quarantine facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients across the country, the chief implementer of the government’s COVID-19 response said Sunday.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said these facilities have a cumulative bed capacity of 165,756 for suspected and probable COVID-19 cases.

“Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroong 645 probable COVID-19 cases at 919 suspected cases na ginagamot sa mga pasilidad na ito,” he said at a virtual press briefing.

Adding to these quarantine facilities is the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, which Galvez said will begin operating on Monday.

The stadium can accommodate 112 patients.

Six other massive quarantine facilities are expected to become operational this week, which are capable of accepting over 2,000 COVID-19 patients.

In the following weeks, an additional nine other quarantine facilities will also begin accepting patients.

“Ang pagtatayo ng quarantine facilities ay kinakailangan sa bawat lungsod at bayan ng buong bansa upang matugunan ang pangangailangan nito sa lalong madaling panahon,” Galvez said.
