PGH exceeds capacity for COVID-19 patients

The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) has already exceeded its capacity for COVID-19 patients as cases continue to mount nationwide, according to an Unang Balita report on Tuesday.

Citing Dr. Jonas del Rosario, PGH spokesman, the report said the hospital now has 137 COVID-19 patients, or seven more than the 130 beds allotted for such cases.

To address this, PGH opened another wing for COVID-19 patients.

The hospital is also planning to transfer COVID-19 patients who are already close to full recovery to quarantine facilities or community centers to accommodate new cases.

As of Monday afternoon, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines was at 6,459, with 613 recoveries and 428 deaths. --KBK, GMA News
