DICT urges entities to avail of bulk application for RapidPass

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Wednesday urged entities to register to the Rapid Pass System (RPS) through bulk application, given the recent surge in applications.

"Since the launch of the system, we have seen a surge in RapidPass applications," DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said in an emailed statement.

"In order to fast track the processing of applications, we highly encourage all government, private, and business entities rendering essential services to register their employees through bulk application," he elaborated.

He was referring to the RapidPass System, a virtual identification system aimed at ensuring easier passage through checkpoints for frontliners and other  individuals exempted from the enhanced community quarantine.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon from March 17 to April 13. It has since been extended to last until April 30 given the rising number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Launched on April 6, the RapidPass System enables frontliners to have their QR codes scanned for them to be allowed to pass through government checkpoints.

"The President wants unhampered flow of goods and unhampered transportation of critical personnel and frontliners in this battle against the pandemic," said Honasan.

"That’s why the DICT, under the guidance of the IATF-MEID, leads this effort to ensure efficiency in our checkpoints as we prepare for this New Norm," he added.—AOL, GMA News
