5-month-old baby recovers from COVID-19, reunites with family

A 5-month-old baby from Manila who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has recovered from the illness.

According to a 24 Oras Weekend report by Athena Imperial on Sunday, Ron Keizer Zafe was discharged on Thursday after being confined and kept away from her family for almost a month.

The baby was admitted to the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.

The hospital staff celebrated the baby’s recovery with a heartwarming send-off.

Her mother, Joemelia Datayan said she did not know how her baby got infected.

Due to her baby testing positive, Datayan and her household were considered suspected cases of COVID-19. They all underwent a 14-day quarantine.

For now, Datayan said she was glad Zafe was in stable condition.

However, the infant would still undergo a 2-week home quarantine while under observation.

— Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
