Workers from ECQ zones should not be made to report for work in GCQ areas —Roque

Employers in industries which will be allowed to resume partial or full operations starting May 1 must not require their employees residing in areas that are still under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to report for work, according to a Palace official on Monday.

Last week, the Inter-Agency Task Force leading the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) response announced that some areas with low risks of having an outbreak will be under relaxed quarantine protocols.

These are the areas outside Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and other high-risk provinces where the enhanced community quarantine has been extended until May 15.

Among the industries that could resume full operations in GCQ areas starting May 1 are agriculture, fisheries, food manufacturing, food retail, logistics, and media.

On the other hand, manufacturing of electronics and exports, e-commerce and delivery for essential and non-essential items, repair and maintenance services, housing, and office services may operate at 50 to 100% capacity.

Public transportation would also resume at reduced capacity in GCQ areas. —KG, GMA News
