Twenty-nine health workers died on the frontlines in the battle against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Health (DOH) said Tuesday.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that 22 of these fatalities were doctors.

Among these cases were 507 nurses, 493 doctors, 74 nursing assistants, 47 medical technologists, 28 radiologic technologists, 11 respiratory therapists, and 11 midwives.

The World Health Organization earlier said that the high infection rate among healthcare workers in the Philippines was “worrisome.”
