The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will release the pension of its members earlier than scheduled, as quarantine protocols remain in place in several areas across the country given the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

According to GSIS president and general manager Rolando Macasaet, GSIS will release pensions -- usually every eighth of the month -- earlier than scheduled for the second consecutive month in May.

"Itong Mayo, tutal holiday 'yung May 1, sa May 5 ire-release rin naman mas maaga 'yung pension ng mga miyembro ng GSIS," he said during the Laging Handa public briefing on Wednesday.

In the same interview, Macasaet said there has been an increase in the number of loans after the agency implemented online processing.

"Maganda 'yung result. So far, ang umutang sa amin, almost 40,000 na at tsaka mahigit na almost P4 billion ang na-release namin sa lahat ng loans at tsaka nagawa namin ito online," he said.

"Itong programa namin, tatagal hanggang July, so ine-expect namin na dadami pa ito," added Macasaet.—AOL, GMA News
