As gov't auditor, Bar topnotcher says post-audit of lockdown disbursements a must

“Overwhelmed!”

That was how Myra Baranda felt upon learning that she scored the third highest in the most recent Bar examinations held late last year.

Baranda, who is also a certified public accountant, told GMA News, “Nagtaas yung balahibo ko. Actually, nasa room po ako noon. Tapos nakatakbo ako sa mga magulang ko. Iyak nang iyak po. Humahagulgol ako.”

Baranda has been working with the Commission on Audit for five years already.

“Never ko pong in-expect, never po akong nag-dream na mag-top 10 po. Ang pinagpe-pray ko lang talaga, sana makapasa lang,” she said.

Baranda also said she found time to unwind during her review for the bar examinations.

“Hindi ko masyadong ini-stress ang sarili ko. Yung kaya ko lang. Actually, during the review nga, I’m with friends. Hindi kami masyadong palaaral nang sobra. Actually, pag may time kami, naliligo kami sa swimming pool. Para makapag-destress. Ganun kami. 'Pag pagod na, tulog,” she recounted.

When asked for her views on the enhanced community quarantine being implemented in Luzon, Baranda said disbursements must be checked to ensure that these are above board.

“As an auditor na rin po, siguro ma-check nang maayos, ma-audit, ma-post audit yung disbursements para malaman kung sumunod sa rules and regulation,” she said.

For future Bar exams takers, Baranda’s advise is, “Mag-pray lang. Time management din. Sa law students, kung kahit nag-aaral pa lang sila, i-master na nila yung basics.” -MDM, GMA News
