Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa praised Thursday police personnel who passed the 2019 Bar examinations as he vowed to give them P10,000 incentive.

In a virtual press briefing, Gamboa, however, requested them to stay in the PNP as the police organizations needs their service.

"I am really happy that we are adding more police lawyers in the organization. Please seriously consider a professional career in the police service more than the prospects that await you in private practice. The PNP needs you,” he said.

Gamboa said the PNP is still collating data to determine how many of its personnel were included in the passers.

"Hindi pa namin na-consolidate at tiningnan talaga kung ilan ito but nevertheless we encourage them to stay in the service," he said.

"Hindi naman sila automatic maa-assign sa legal service dahil choice nila 'yun kasi kapag na-assign sila at nagpa-assign sila sa legal service, of course, they automatically get the rank of police captain," he added.

A total of 2,103 candidates passed the examinations, according to 2019 Bar chairperson Senior Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe. It was topped by Mae Diane Azores, a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi.

The Bar exams covered political law, international law, labor law and social legislation, civil law, taxation law, mercantile law, criminal law, remedial law, and legal and judicial ethics and practical exercises.—AOL, GMA News
