Students of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman who have completed their course requirements will all get a passing grade for the second semester of Academic Year 2019 - 2020, which has been cut short due to COVID-19.

“No student will be given a grade of 4.0, 5.0, or INC (incomplete) for courses in the Second Semester AY 2019-2020,” according to a statement from the state university.

It said that all faculty members with students who opt or need to complete the course requirements within the second semester will have until June 24 to submit their final grades.

“Grades of students who are unable to complete the adjusted course requirements by (June 16, the end date set in the adjusted Academic Calendar) will be deferred. They are given until May 31, 2021 to do so,” it added.

In the same statement, UP clarified that its earlier advisory with a heading “Reopening of the Semester” (for students who opt to complete course requirements) does not refer to the reopening nor resumption of classes.

“The resumption of academic activities after May 1, 2020 will enable students to complete adjusted course requirements by 16 June 2020, the end date set in the adjusted Academic Calendar,” it further said.

It said classes officially end on April 30, 2020, including face-to-face classes for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

It added online classes are also discouraged, but may be conducted only for leveling expectations, clarifications, overall guidance, and summation. The real-time online meetings will not impact grading and will be recorded and disseminated to all students concerned, the state university said.—AOL, GMA News
