President Rodrigo Duterte has designated Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) chief Vince Dizon as deputy chief implementer of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The BCDA head’s appointment was formalized through a memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Friday.

Dizon will be assisting Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the chief implementer of the national policy against COVID-19.

Over the past weeks, Dizon’s office has been focusing on the conversion of major facilities in Metro Manila and other areas into quarantine centers for COVID-19 patients.

Four mega swabbing centers will also be constructed next week to strengthen the country's capacity in massive testing for COVID-19, the BCDA said.

The initial swabbing centers will be put up at the Philippine Sports Stadium inside the Philippine Arena in Bulacan (northern sector), the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City (southern sector), Enderun Colleges in Taguig City (eastern sector), and the Palacio de Maynila Tent in Roxas Boulevard (western sector). -NB, GMA News
