Health workers with COVID-19 now 1,886; no new deaths in two days — DOH

The number of health workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 1,886, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday. 

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that among these cases, 403 have recovered while 1,449 are undergoing treatment or home quarantine.

Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 deaths among healthcare workers were recorded in the past two days.

The death toll remained at 34.

Vergeire also noted that new COVID-19 cases among health workers have been declining in the past few days.

The DOH said that nearly 20 percent of the country’s confirmed cases are healthcare workers.

The Philippines has 10,343 COVID-19 cases with 1,618 recoveries and 685 deaths as of Thursday afternoon.  — RSJ, GMA News
