By DONA MAGSINO, GMA News

The mega swabbing center for COVID-19 tests at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, mounted through collaboration with the private sector, was already set up for use on Friday.

Markers were placed to separate the several testing booths at the center of the arena.

Swab samples that will be taken from this facility will be tested by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) through PCR machines.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, PRC chairman and Senator Richard Gordon, and Bases Conversion and Development Authority chief Vince Dizon inspected the swabbing center.

This facility and three other mega swabbing centers—Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan, Enderun Tent McKinley Hill in Taguig City, and Palacio de Maynila along Roxas Boulevard—are expected to collect 5,000 samples per day.

As of May 6, there were over 131,000 individuals which have undergone the COVID-19 test nationwide. There are 23 accredited laboratories in the country which conduct PCR-based tests.—AOL, GMA News
