DA looking at including more veggies in SRP list

The Department of Agriculture (DA) will study the possibility of including more vegetable products in the list of agricultural produce with suggested retail price (SRP).

During the Laging Handa public briefing on Friday, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the DA will study what other vegetable varieties will be under the SRP scheme.

This as mobility restrictions in transporting vegetables amid the enhanced community quarantine led to higher prices in the markets.

“‘Yung gulay mayron na tayo iba’t ibang gulay na under SRP, with these [situation] we will try to study kung ano pa ang iba’t ibang klase ng gulay ang isasailalim natin sa price freeze o SRP,” Dar said.

The DA has revived local price coordinating councils all over the country in order to ensure that prices of select agricultural products comply with the suggested retail prices set by the department.

It also released an updated list of agricultural products covered by the SRP and price freeze in connection with the enhanced community quarantine. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
