DOH: COVID-positive health workers now 1,991; no new deaths in over a week


The number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 1,991, the Department of Health (DOH) said Sunday.

Among these cases are 753 nurses, 628 doctors, 127 nursing assistants, 72 medical technologists, 39 radiologic technologists, and 158 other non-medical workers.

A total of 544 health workers have already recovered from the respiratory illness.

The other 1,413 are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 999 are mild cases, 407 are asymptomatic, while seven are in severe condition.

Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 deaths among health workers have been reported by the DOH in over a week.

The death toll has held steady at 34 since May 2, according to daily reports from the department.

However, health workers still account for 19 percent of the total COVID-19 infections nationwide.

The Philippines has recorded 10,794 COVID-19 cases with 1,924 recoveries and 719 deaths as of Sunday afternoon. — BM, GMA News
