958 of 1,528 LGUs completed cash aid distribution on deadline —DSWD

At least 958 local government units (LGUs) were able to beat the deadline for the distribution of the cash subsidy under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) on Sunday, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV on Monday, DSWD Director Irene Dumlao said the rest of the LGUs that failed to beat the deadline were around 90% finished with the distribution.

“Mayroon na tayong 958 local government units na nakapag-100% na… out of 1,528 local government units,” Dumlao said.

According to Dumlao, some of the LGUs with incomplete distribution submitted a request to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to give them more time.

Initially, the deadline for the distribution of the emergency cash subsidy was set on April 30, but it was moved to May 7 before it was moved again to May 10.

Those LGUs that finished the distribution should send a liquidation report to DSWD in 15 days, as part of the requirement to receive budget for the second tranche of the cash assistance distribution.

“We are expecting to receive itong mga report kung ilan na 'yung na nakapag-100% ng kanilang accomplishment,” Dumlao said.

She said over 100 LGUs have already submitted their liquidation reports.

The program, launched to mitigate the impact of the enhanced community quarantine on the public, aims to distribute aid of up to P16, 000 to 18 million low-income families nationwide in two months with a budget of P200 billion. -- Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
