Areas under modified ECQ, GCQ after May 15

After 58 days of Luzon being placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to COVID-19 pandemic, the government announced Tuesday easing up restrictions in several areas.

Placed under modified enhanced community quarantine from May 16 to 31 for being “high-risk” in the spread of COVID-19 are:

  • National Capital Region
  • Laguna
  • Cebu City

The implementation of modified ECQ will allow the opening of manufacturing and processing plants with 50 percent workforce at maximum and limited transportation for essential goods/services.

Classes, however, will remain suspended under modified ECQ.

As this developed, 38 provinces and 12 cities are still considered at "moderate risk" and are under general community quarantine (GCQ).

The 38 provinces under GCQ include:

  •     Abra
  •     Apayao
  •     Benguet
  •     Ifugao
  •     Kalinga
  •     Mountain Province
  •     Batanes
  •     Cagayan
  •     Isabela
  •     Nueva Vizcaya
  •     Quirino
  •     Aurora
  •     Bataan
  •     Bulacan
  •     Nueva Ecija
  •     Pampanga
  •     Tarlac
  •     Zambales
  •     Cavite
  •     Quezon
  •     Rizal
  •     Bohol

  •     Cebu
  •     Negros Oriental
  •     Siquijor
  •     Zamboanga del Norte
  •     Zamboanga del Sur
  •     Zamboanga Sibugay
  •     Davao de Oro
  •     Davao del Norte
  •     Davao del Sur
  •     Davao Occidental
  •     Davao Oriental
  •     Agusan del Norte
  •     Agusan del Sur
  •     Dinagat Islands
  •     Surigao del Norte and

The 12 provinces under GCQ, on the other hand, are the following:

  •     Baguio City
  •     Santiago City, Isabela
  •     Angeles City
  •     Olongapo City
  •     Batangas City
  •     Lucena City
  •     Mandaue City
  •     Lapu-Lapu City
  •     Zamboanga City
  •     Isabela City, Basilan
  •     Davao City and
  •     Butuan City

Under GCQ protocol, manufacturing and processing plants can resume operations with 75 percent workforce at maximum and limited transportation to support government and private firms’ operations.

Likewise, GCQ allows flexible learning arrangements for students.

The Philippines has registered 11,086 COVID-19 cases so far. Of this number, 1,999 recovered while 726 died.—AOL, GMA News
