NDRRMC to LGUs: Social distancing must be observed in evacuation centers

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (NDRRMC) on Tuesday reminded local government units that social distancing measures must be observed in evacuation centers, should they become necessary due to Tropical Depression Ambo.

In Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras," spokesperson Mark Timbal also said that LGUs should use alternative evacuation centers to those that they have previously identified as quarantine centers.

"For example, ang ginamit po nilang quarantine area ay isang elementary school, hindi po nila puwedeng gamitin 'yun for evacuation," Timbal said.

The NDRRMC also stressed the importance of cooperation, reminding the public to wear face masks during evacuations amid the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019.

According to the NDRRMC, the quarantine areas are safe and are not in danger areas. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
