Sinas' 'extraordinary' birthday included in NCRPO accomplishments list

The birthday celebration of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Debold Sinas was considered as an accomplishment of the said police office.

Posted on its official website, the "extraordinary birthday celebration of RD NCRPO" was listed as an accomplishments. It detailed how Sinas celebrated his birthday last May 8 through relief operations to the poor communities in Metro Manila amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

His controversial mañanita, now a  subject of investigation, was not included in this entry of accomplishments.

The NCRPO said a total of 13,255 relief food packages were distributed regionwide. Tondo, Manila was included in the areas where relief items were handed.

However, it seemed that social distancing was not observed in the distribution as residents of Barangay 105 crammed to receive rice and sardines from NCRPO cops.

Authorities were also not able to control the crowd, Chino Gaston's report on 24 Oras showed.

According to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, they would look into the list.

"We have to check muna what the log is intended for," Banac said.

GMA News Online tried to reach NCRPO for comment but it has yet to reply as of posting time.

Sinas already apologized if his celebration brought "anxiety" to the public. However, he said some of the photos were edited and grabbed from old posts.

The Philippine National Police - Internal Affairs Service has started its probe on the incident. According to its chief, lawyer Alfegar Triambulo, Sinas will not be relieved from his post pending investigation.—AOL/KBK, GMA News
