Sara Duterte: President allowed to move around Philippines during COVID-19 crisis

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday said her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, can go around the country during the COVID-19 crisis.

The mayor cited the guidelines issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 response, which allows the movement of state officials and government frontline personnel within and across areas placed under any form of community quarantine.

“Si PRD [President Duterte] is allowed to move around the country, not just Davao City. Wala nay mas frontline pa sa atoang tanan sa Presidente sa atoang nasud [Ang Presidente ang nasa pinaka-frontline dito sa ating bansa],” she said in an interview on Davao City Disaster Radio.

The President traveled to his hometown Davao City last Saturday to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Mindanao and spend time with his family after being away for more than two months. His trip coincided with the onslaught of Typhoon Ambo in several provinces in Luzon and Visayas.

Malacañang said the President was expected to return to Manila on Monday night and will attend the meeting with the COVID-19 task force on Tuesday. —LDF, GMA News
