No new COVID-19 cases, deaths among health workers; recoveries top 1,000


No new cases or deaths from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded among healthcare workers on Tuesday, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Wednesday said the total number of health workers infected with COVID-19 remained at 2,315 while the death toll stood at 35.

Meanwhile, recoveries rose to 1,018.

The remaining 1,264 health workers are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 923 are mild cases, 336 are asymptomatic, four are in severe condition, while one is critical.

Nurses still account for the majority of COVID-19 cases among health workers with 842 infections, followed by doctors with 671, nursing assistants with 144, medical technologists with 84, and radiologic technologists with 42.

Aside from these healthcare workers, 285 other non-medical staff were also included in the tally.

Nearly 20 percent of the total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is still composed of health workers.

The Philippines has recorded 13,221 cases with 2,932 recoveries and 842 deaths as of Wednesday afternoon. —LDF, GMA News
