The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Thursday said it is looking to resume its classes by June.

"With the easing of the enhanced community quarantine to modified and there are many other places that are now [under] general quarantine, we plan to resume our classes by June," said TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña during a Senate hearing.

Metro Manila, Laguna, and five other areas were placed under a modified enhanced community quarantine

starting May 16 while other areas were downgraded to a general community quarantine.

"Of course, [this is] subject to the approval of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force), subject to the regulations that are pronounced by the IATF," Lapeña added.

Upon the declaration of the enhanced community quarantine, Lapeña said TESDA created Oplan TESDA Abot Lahat.

"[T]he objective of this operations's plan is to ensure a more relevant and responsive, technical, vocational, education training that will be adaptable to the new normal," the secretary said.

Part of the objective of the project is to develop "innovative and flexible" programs that will be implemented under the "new normal."

"This is a shift from the traditional face-to-face training delivery mode to online or a combined online and face-to-face delivery mode," he said.

Lapeña assured that this will be compliant to regulations required by the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Department of Health. -- BAP, GMA News
