Distribution of cash aid's 2nd tranche would depend on LGUs –DSWD

The distribution of the 2nd tranche of the social amelioration subsidy will depend on local government units, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Saturday in a report by Cedric Castillo.

"Dependende kami diyan sa liquidation ng ating mga LGUs. Kasi ang nasa guidelines, kailangan muna ma-validate 'yung na-send out na first tranche para sa ganon, 'yung duplication ay siguradong hindi maulit sa 2nd tranche," assistant secretary Joseline Niwane said.

"So kung mayroon tayong na-doble o kaya may na-duplicate or hindi eligible, ma-clarify kaagad," she added.

Out of 1,634 local government units across the country, 1,250 have finished their distribution of the subsidy while 550 have finished liquidation.

Despite this, the DSWD assured that liquidation is difficult in such a short time.

"Alam naman natin na COA pa rin in the end ang magpo-post audit nito. So I think our LGUs would not like na may mahanap din na magiging kasalanan nila, so talagang careful din sila," Niwane said.

"We have to do something para siguradong maibigay din on time 'yung pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan kasi alam naman natin na ito ang time na kailangan nila ang tulong," she added.

The agency clarified that distribution and liquidation of the SAP subsidy is extended to June.

Aside from this, the DSWD is also waiting on a memorandum from Malacanang regarding the distribution process of the 2nd tranche. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
