Health workers with COVID-19 increase to 2,369; recoveries now at 1,118


The number of health workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,369, the Department of Health (DOH) said Sunday.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,118 of these healthcare workers have recovered from the respiratory illness while another 1,220 were active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Among the active cases, 900 were mild, 318 were asymptomatic, and two were in severe condition.

Meanwhile, the death toll has remained at 31 since May 10.

The five medical professions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases were nurses with 866 infections, doctors with 676, nursing assistants with 143, medical technologists with 88, and radiologic technologists with 43.

Over 290 other non-medical staff were also included in the tally.

Health workers still account for 17 percent of the total COVID-19 cases nationwide.

The Philippines has logged 14,035 cases with 3,249 recoveries and 868 deaths as of Sunday afternoon.  — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
