Number of COVID-infected PNP personnel rises to 278

The number of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has reached 278.

According to the PNP Public Information Office, the number of recoveries is 117 while the number of deaths is four.

The data are as of 6 p.m. of May 25. The PNP also recorded 761 probable COVID-19 cases while 595 personnel are listed as suspected cases.

Earlier, the PNP announced that the Department of Health and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine have accredited its COVID-19 testing facility that can conduct at least 150 tests daily.

PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said the RT/PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) facility would accommodate policemen and their dependents. --Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
