Vico Sotto doesn't want relatives to replace him as Pasig mayor

Vico Sotto would discourage his relatives from running in the next Pasig election to give way to other leaders, the Pasig mayor said in an outtake video from the inaugural episode of "Quaratined with Howie Severino."

"Hindi lang dahil hindi magandang tingnan but ang puso ko para sa Pasig, puso namin ng team namin dito, magkaroon ng iba pang leaders," Vico said.

"Hindi lang naman isang tao ang magaling eh. Hindi lang isang pamilya ang magaling. Let's find those young leaders. Let's find those next generation leaders who will be better than me, who will be better than me, than the leaders that we already had here in Pasig," he added.

Vico shared that he hoped that the good public servants of Pasig who've left the government because of the political dynasty would come back and serve again.

He has no intention of keeping the power all to himself for years to come, Vico said, adding the true mark of a good leader is the ability to pass the leadership onto someone else.

"Succession is a defining [quality of] a good leader, so kung magaling kang leader, mapapasa mo sa susunod na leader. Ibig sabihin may continuity na hindi 'yong anak mo lang o ano — ibig sabihin may mga bagong leader rin and that's my vision for Pasig...kung sino yung pinakamagling, pinakamahusay at pinakatapat, yun yung manalo dito sa Pasig, Vico said.

"Kung magiging successful leader ako, ibig sabihin the more successful I am, the shorter I will stay here. 'Yon ang thinking ko," he added.
