Health workers with COVID-19 now 2,560; recoveries up to 1,342


The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported that the number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed to 2,560.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,342 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll climbed to 32 on May 29 after weeks without new fatalities.

The other 1,186 medical professionals are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 962 are mild cases, 222 are asymptomatic, while two are in severe condition.

Health workers account for 15 percent of the total cases nationwide, a dip from 16 to 17 percent recorded in past days.

The Philippines has logged 18,086 cases with 3,909 recoveries and 957 deaths as of Sunday afternoon. — DVM, GMA News
