Number of health workers with COVID-19 rise to 2,606; recoveries now at 1,402


The number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,606, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,402 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory disease, while the death toll has remained at 32 since May 29.

The other 1,172 medical professionals are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 952 are mild cases, 218 are asymptomatic, and two are in severe condition.

Health workers account for 15 percent of total infections nationwide, a drop from 16 to 17 percent recorded last week.

The Philippines has logged 18,638 COVID-19 cases with 3,979 recoveries and 960 deaths as of Monday afternoon. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
