LTFRB's Delgra vows more bus routes to be added to cater transpo needs of commuters

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Martin Delgra on Tuesday vowed that more bus routes would be added to address the transportation problem being experienced by commuters during the general community quarantine in Metro Manila.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Delgra said transportation officials have been monitoring the situation amid the lack of mass transport vehicles as they are checking what routes need to be added.

"Tuloy-tuloy po ang pagdedeploy natin ng mga additional bus routes...nailatag na po ito at tinitingnan natin kung saan kasi nga calibrated 'yung pagpa-plano dito," Delgra said.

"Araw-araw po tinitingnan natin ito at magbubukas pa ng bus routes na kailangan," he added.

Delgra said concerned agencies are constantly coordinating with bus companies for the plan to add more bus routes. He also said bus firms are being reminded to ensure that health protocols will be practiced once they are ordered to resume operations.

On the first day of GCQ in Metro Manila, a huge number of commuters were stranded on the streets for hours due to the limited number of public utility vehicles.

The national government only allowed trains and bus augmentation, taxis, transport network vehicle services, shuttle services, point-to-point buses, and bicycles to ferry commuters from June 1 to 21.

Two more routes in Metro Manila were added to address the transportation woes of the commuters. Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said the two routes are Angat, Bulacan to Quezon Avenue in Quezon City, and Dasmariñas, Cavite to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.—AOL, GMA News
