Philippines allows reopening of dine-in restos in modified GCQ areas

The government has allowed the gradual reopening of food establishments with dine-in services in areas under modified general community quarantine, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Health protocols will be applied under a dine-in setup in accordance with the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the government’s highest policymaking body on COVID-19 response.

Dine-in service in food establishments will be allowed to operate at a maximum 50% of seating capacity.

“Pinayagan na po ang dine-in operations pero hindi po nangangahulagang piyesta at inuman na,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.

“Sa pag-setup ng service station, walang buffet at self-service areas para sa food bars, condiments at utensils. Mag-designate lang ng lugar sa take-away or pickup.”

Not complying with the prescribed minimum health protocols such as physical distancing and regular sanitation shall be grounds for temporary closure to allow the outlet to correct the deficiencies, the government said.

The Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions I (except Pangasinan), IV-B, V, VI, VIII, IX (except Zamboanga City), X, XI (except Davao City) and XII, CARAGA, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will be under modified GCQ from June 1 to 15.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, is under general community quarantine. --KBK/BM, GMA News
