Displaced workers in film industry to receive P5k cash assistance amid COVID-19 threat—FDCP


Displaced workers from the film, television and advertising industry are set to receive receive cash assistance from the government, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) said on Tuesday.

In an interview with Super Radyo DzBB, Chairperson Liza Diño said that the FDCP has reallocated P20 million of its funds to give emergency subsidies to the affected workers.

Workers who lost their jobs amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic will receive P5,000 to P8,000 in aid, according to Diño.

"It's given across the board. Television, film pati advertising kasi nga alam namin na ang workers palipat-lipat lang naman ng formats na nangangailangan ng support," she said.

In a Senate hearing last month, Diño said that around 865,000 workers in the creative industry are suffering from the impact of the pandemic.
