20 more cops positive for COVID-19, total now at 346 -PNP

Twenty more Philippine National Police personnel got infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number to 346, the PNP said on Wednesday.

Latest data showed that the number of recoveries is still at 176 while the number of deaths remains at four.

“We attribute this high recovery rate to our intensified mass testing among our police personnel including extensive contact tracing and treatment of confirmed cases as well as isolation of suspected cases,” PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said in a statement.

Among the total number of COVID-19 cases, 148 patients are in quarantine facilities, two are admitted in hospitals, and 16 others are undergoing home quarantine.

The PNP Health Service also recorded a total of 675 probable persons under investigation, while 717 others are listed as suspected PUIs.

Earlier, the PNP launched its RT/PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) facility, which is manned by seven personnel from the PNP Crime Laboratory and six others from the PNP Health Service.

Gamboa has said the facility will complement the PNP's initial initiatives to mitigate COVID-19 cases among cops. -MDM, GMA News
