Gov’t allows religious gatherings in MGCQ areas

Areas under modified general community quarantine can now hold religious gatherings up to a maximum of 50% of the worship venue capacity, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.

The decision was made by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases following appeals to allow the partial reopening of places of worship.

Only five people could attend a religious gathering in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine and 10 people in places under general community quarantine, according to the current guidelines.

The IATF also revised the rules on movement of people in MGCQ areas.

Roque said those under 21 years old, 60 years old and above, pregnant women, and those with health issues should stay home at all times.

Exempted from the new rule are the authorized persons outside residence (APOR).

Previously, all persons will be allowed to go outside their homes as long as the minimum health standards are observed. — RSJ, GMA News
