The government has expanded the list of accommodation establishments that will be allowed to operate while community quarantines are in place across the country, according to the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 response.

Resorts, apartment hotels,  tourists inns, motels, pension houses, private homes used for homestay, ecolodges, serviced apartments, condotels and bed and breakfast facilities will be allowed to operate as long as they secure a permit from the Department of Tourism (DOT), the IATF said in a resolution approved on Wednesday.

Previously, only hotels with DOT certificates of authority were permitted to operate.

"Hotel operations shall be limited to the provision of basic accommodation services to guests through an in-house skeleton workforce," the resolution stated.

“Ancillary establishments within the premises, such as restaurants, cafés, bars, gyms, spas and the like shall not be allowed to operate or to provide room service.”

Accommodation establishments may prepare packed meals for distribution to guests and food orders for take-out and delivery only, the IATF said. —LDF, GMA News
