OFWs who tested negative for COVID-19 in NCR, test positive in province

Some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who had tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 in Metro Manila tested positive for the illness in their respective provinces.

According to Katrina Son's report on "24 Oras Weekend," the OFWs of the Balik Probinsya Program had also completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

This included an OFW and two others who returned to Palawan. The workers had tested positive in a rapid diagnostic test.

They were on board a ship from Manila with more than 100 other passengers.

Meanwhile, two other OFWs have tested positive for the virus in Bacolod City and Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Another OFW from Saudi Arabia was the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Ormoc City.

"Ang sabi nung umalis daw ng Manila, negative daw, sige let's take your word. Kasi kayo naman 'yung andyan, kayo ang nag-paalis," Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez said.

"Hindi namin kayo sinisisi. But what we're telling you is that, please, you have to help us," he added.

Meanwhile, an area in Misamis Occidental was locked down after a seaman who was positive for the virus had returned to the province.

The OFW had completed his mandatory 14-day quarantine and tested negative for the virus in Manila. However, his condition had worsened, leading him to take a rapid diagnostic test and swab test.
