Health workers with COVID-19 now 2,734; recoveries up to 1,557


The number of healthcare workers who have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has climbed to 2,734 as of June 6, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday.

In its daily COVID-19 report, the DOH said 1,557 of these health workers have recovered from the respiratory illness, while the death toll has remained at 32 since May 29.

The other 1,145 medical workers are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Of this number, 1,008 are mild cases, 136 are asymptomatic, while one is in severe condition.

Health workers account for 13 percent of the total cases nationwide, a drop from 14 to 15 percent recorded last week.

The Philippines has logged 21,895 cases with 4,530 recoveries and 1,003 deaths as of Sunday afternoon.  — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
