Here’s how to protest safely amid COVID-19 threat, according to WHO
By KAELA MALIG,GMA NewsThe World Health Organization (WHO) has shared tips on how to protest safely amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“WHO fully supports equality and global movement against racism. We reject discrimination of all kinds,” said WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a press conference on Monday.
“We encourage all those protesting around the world to do so safely,” he added.
Tedros recommended those who will protest to keep at least one meter away from others as much as possible.
Apart from keeping distance, Tedros shared that protesters should “clean your hands, cover your coughs and wear a mask.”
“We remind everyone to stay home if you’re sick and contact health care providers,” he added.

On Saturday, rights group Movement Against Tyranny announced they would be holding a mañanita protest to call for the junking of the antiterror bill and stand up against tyranny on June 12, the Philippines’ Independence Day.
However, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac discouraged citizens from staging protests in light of the pandemic. – RC, GMA News
