‘Unang Hirit’ team distributes meals to nearly 200 persons stranded at NAIA

The “Unang Hirit” team distributed hot meals, drinks, and jackets to nearly 200 persons stranded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 this morning.

Many of them have run out of funds for food and lodging and stayed outside despite the rainy weather, according to Mariz Umali’s report.

Honeyna Manalao had no place to go after her flight to Cotabato was cancelled on June 6.

“Kailangan po kanya-kanya kaming bumili ng pagkain, ng tubig, wala na po talaga (pera),” she told Umali.

She thanked GMA for providing assistance as she continued to wait for flight updates in the hopes of returning home to Mindanao.

Christine Jane Ruiz likewise appealed to airport authorities to help her and fellow locally stranded individuals (LSIs) rebook their flights.

All she wanted was to go home to her child in Davao City.

“Nakikiusap po ako na sana masolusyonan  din po ang mga problema kasi marami din pong tao na nahihirapan,” said Ruiz. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
