Protesters brave rains to join 'mañanita' on Independence Day

Despite the rains brought by Butchoy, protesters gathered at the University of the Philippines Diliman to join the "mañanita" on Independence Day.

Wearing face masks and carrying umbrellas, the demonstrators brought flowers, cake, and other party items along with their placards calling for mass testing and opposing the anti-terror bill.

Some of them wore costumes like activist Mae Paner, who dressed up in as National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Debold Sinas.

She wore an orange shirt and khaki shorts, similar to what Sinas wore during his highly-criticized birthday celebration on May 8.
