Over P8-B illegal drugs seized in police ops spanning 9 days –PNP

Authorities seized more than P8 billion worth of illegal drugs in a series of operations that was conducted in less than 10 days, the Philippine National Police reported Sunday.

In a statement, top cop Police General Archie Gamboa commended the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) and the Police Regional Offices (PROs) for the accomplishment.

“The yield of P 8.395 billion worth of illegal drugs in a span of nine (9) days is unprecedented and is proof that the PNP is relentless in its pursuit of criminals and syndicates behind illegal drugs,” he said.

On June 12, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) seized P18.25 million worth of shabu in the cities of Caloocan, Navotas, and Marikina. Also, PRO-13 seized P300,000  in illegal drugs in Butuan City.

From June 12 to 13, PRO-6 seized P1.22 million worth of illegal drugs in Bacolod City. On June 13, PRO-4A seized 306,000 worth of illegal drugs in Rizal province.

In an operation on June 11, the PDEG and PRO-4A  netted P2.5 billion worth of suspected shabu in Cavite province.

On June 9, PRO-3 seized P1.8 million worth of shabu in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

P5.63 billion worth of shabu was confiscated, and a Chinese and two Filipina accomplices were arrested in Marilao, Bulacan on June 4, PNP said.

On May 22, NCRPO and PDEG conducted buy-bust operations in Taguig City that resulted to seizure of P81.6 million worth of illegal drugs.

Two days later, a follow up operation was conducted in Parañaque City, where P244 million worth of shabu was seized.

“The PNP continues to be in the frontline of ensuring public safety by going after illegal drugs. There is no let up in our campaign even as we are facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gamboa said. —LBG, GMA News
